Who am I?

emma.k

I’ve been in love with photography for most of my life. My earliest memory is on vacation with my family – we were sitting by the pool about to have lunch, and I looked up over the grassy area next to the pool and thought “if I move a little to the right and angle up, that would make a great shot!”

And I think about that day all the time.

I’ve been lucky to work for a few photo companies over the years, and have been paid to shoot events, weddings, concerts, products, as well as dabble in video work and editing, which is a second love for me.

Outside of photography, I love to travel, and have been to over 20 countries over 3 continents so far! I dabble in learning languages also, and speak rudimentary Greek, German, English, and French. I have started learning how to code which has been awesome, and love to play video games both socially and competitively. I also love the theatre, having been lucky to perform in many shows with various companies, in plays/musicals, dance, and vocal ensembles. When I have any time, my nieces and nephews are my greatest joys and my favorite models 🙂

I like to think I am fun and easy to work with, and the work I deliver is quality. While I do focus on creating an awesome experience for my clients, I still make sure quality and product return is top notch.

Shoutout to my dad ^

I took the plunge into photography for real in 10th grade when, after using and abusing my old school Canon ‘point and shoot’ digital camera, begged my dad to help me buy a “real” camera for my highschool photography class. He graciously conceded, did some research for me, and took me to Best Buy to buy my first DSLR: a Canon Rebel XS – which was basically out of model when I bought it. It cost $500 (the most expensive thing I could fathom at that age), and my dad made me a deal that we would split the cost and I would have to pay him back. It’s been 13 years, and I’m pretty sure I still owe him that $250. Thanks dad.

I’ve photographed hundreds of people, and the thing I hear all the time is how much stress or dread people feel when presented with taking pictures, or how “Oh, I don’t really like being in photos”. I hated seeing and hearing people I liked so much feel stressed or down on themselves because they didn’t think they or their family or their life looked a certain way or was different than other people. And so I decided that I always wanted to be a photographer that made people feel welcome and good about themselves – that it didn’t matter if you felt unsure, because I was sure of you. And I’ve made it my mission to make sure that photos are fun, no matter what.

Let’s work together! Send me a message!
